Alexb27 9 Report post Posted May 8, 2019 Hi all, This morning when I got into my car, when attepting to start it up, it really struggled to fire up, the starter motor going on for 4-5 seconds until it finally did fire up. I am aware that the batteries in those cars are a bit weak but just wondering if that could be a symptom for anything else? I daily drive the car so I would've thought I shouldn't run into this issue.. Thank you!
nerdstrike 186 Report post Posted May 8, 2019 I've had it happen a few times, but barely more than once in a year, and my car has kept working normally otherwise. Your guide on battery condition is the turn-over RPM and whether it ramps up quickly or not. I think it's a transitory issue with air temp and humidity, in that it makes a bad guess about how much fuel to put in and then takes a while to find a working solution. If you had a manual key, you'd probably stop and try again and it would start.
Alexb27 9 Report post Posted May 9, 2019 Thank you! Sounds like that could be it. No issues since yesterday morning and no difference in power delivery or any other funny noises. Thanks for the tip on the battery condition, I will keep and eye out for it.
