JohnM 25 Report post Posted April 1, 2019 So when i was under the car attempting to fit the powerflex gearbox bush I noticed that the transmission casing was covered in a green oily gunk residue. Now there is no apparent leaks anywhere under the car or in the engine bay as all the under carriage is pretty clean (apart from the usual dirt) and the exhaust pipes have no signs of the same residue but being as the car was purchased second hand from a main dealer who I have absolutely no confidence in is there anything I should be looking for. Could it also have been from a previous issue that has been fixed but not cleaned up afterwards. Or am i just looking for something that isnt there.
LGE 11 Report post Posted April 1, 2019 I'm not 100% sure if this is relevant, but take a look here: https://www.gt86ownersclub.co.uk/forum/34-cleaning-detailing-maintenance/6694-engine-bay-gunk.html Probably best to get someone else much more experienced to confirm.. Lauren 2259 Report post Posted April 2, 2019 The green gunk does hang around for a while. It's just a protective coating that is a magnet for dirt and dust mainly. 1 Joolz reacted to this
Daninplymouth 61 Report post Posted April 2, 2019 Ah that’s what it is. I thought mine came from the washer fluid bottle as once I didn’t clip the lid back on properly after filling and thought it’s were screenwash had spilled onto the hot components
