CaptainDash 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2020 Quite an old thread but as I’m hoping to get a manifold etc at TD in Jan, very relevant to me! I’ve suggested to Mike I would like UEL, I used to have an Impreza and like the offbeat sound. I havnt managed to find any sound comparison videos between the two through the rev range but was wondering if the consensus was the EL sounds sweeter higher up? I would consider sacrificing the meaty rumble lower down with UEL if on the odd occasions when I’m really working the gears the exhaust note is better with EL. And is the difference between the two effectively just the sound? Does UEL improve lower rpm torque better and EL higher? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Its a personal choice with not much gain/loss in it for the TD manifolds, in particular. More low down torque in UEL is common with less top end but not in TD.
