Will300's Subaru BRZ Build

Recommended Posts

Introduction:

Hello everyone, I've decided it's about time I did a proper build thread for my 2nd Subaru BRZ as thing are now starting to get more interesting.

My plan is to build a fast road car with some track focused additions. The car is my daily vehicle so I'm not planning to strip it out and turn it into a track monster. Just something that is easily to live with during the week but gets thrashed at the weekend.

Thanks for looking

Will

Ah good, you can help persuade me away from turbo. I still haven't made my mind up.

It just depends on what you've after, if ultimate goal is power then turbo would be better. I personally don't like the top mounted turbo solutions.

That's not to say I wouldn't have one, I had been debating which way to go for the past week really. I just though SC would suit me better.

Excellent choice (not that I'm biased in any way shape or form!)

No that's not enough. You need to write a 3 page essay on why this is the best kit on the market!

Will be good to have another FI car in the mix.

@will300 are you considering beford auto in decemebr?

Am I seeing this correctly, with a manifold, and exhaust system the car made no more power ( graph figures ) over stock. I can see the change in curve etc...

It doesn't mention anything about mapping, so chances are it's still running stock map. In that case, the ECU probably hasn't adjusted for the new parts. I'm surprised, if that is the case, that it isn't making significantly less power.

Good point, these NA cars are so fickle :D

When I spoke to him at the weekend he said he had it mapped at fensport but not sure if this is before or after said exhaust

Yeah, it may well be mapped, but if it was mapped pre-header, then not re-mapped when it was fitted, it will produce similar results.

I had mine mapped as stock, then had a UEL manifold fitted and took it back to Abbey for re-mapping. On the initial run the car was around 5hp down on the previous run with stock manifold. By the end of the day it was up 5hp and torque curve completely transformed. These modern engines rely so much on sensors and software that just changing parts often doesn't do a lot, at least not for a few hundred miles until the car adjusts its brain to calculate using new readings.
