Adam's Stage 3 Turbo Rocket Bunny

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone,

I've finally got around to doing some decent modifications to my GT86 and thought I'd share some pictures with you wonderful people, and possibly have some feedback on your thoughts.

First Mod was to change the exhaust system, I went for a custom build as there is a guy local to me who is A*, I had the exhaust fitted a few weeks ago and it sounds fantastic, second CAT delete.

I'm having a custom manifold being made and fitted tomorrow / Friday ready for the weekend so will try and get some more pictures and videos up on here with the finished product. Only problem is I'm loosing the primary CAT, but he is modifying the system to allow me to bolt the CAT on (when necessary). This should release a few more BHP!!

The exhaust tips are 5" wide and fill the space lovely, some say too big but I guess its personal preference.

My only fear is once the manifold is put on, how much louder will it get.

This weekend I've bought some coilovers, ST XTA Coilovers with adjustable top mounts.

And some Gold 18" Rota Grids (8.5" Front 9.5" Rear), its been dropped about 50mm all around.

I may need to raise it slightly as It takes me about 20 mins to park on my drive hmmmmm.

I'm now looking at getting the shark fin done, TRD spoiler and a few other bits and bobs. Any other recommendations?  :D

Btw this is my first proper post so I hope I'm doing it right and all the pictures work lol.

Awesome stuff dude! Love the alloys, I've been waiting ages to get myself a set of white Rota Grids in 18" but 8.5j all round....just when I was about to order, they were out of stock followed by my lil crash :( Now got to wait till I get her fixed :'( But a 50mm drop....and here's me worrying about a measly 35mm drop :P

Also would love to hear your exhaust!

The Rota Grids in white look tidy!! I was going to go for Gunmetal but there was limited colors in stock as well. So gold was actually my second choice, but very happy with the end result. Don't you fancy the 9.5s on the rear?

Haha 50mm is too much to be honest mate, I now can't park on my drive and If the road if slightly uneven I panic.. I may need to raise a few mm.... not sure as I love the look. Practicality VS Looks

Adam - looks a mean beast! Welcome! Gold with White.... why am I thinking seven dwarfs..?

You may find 50mm lowering a bit excessive, depends on how your coilovers perform and how hard you like your ride.. (oooer, missus!). Be very inteesting to hear your feedback..

If you've got a custom exhaust manifold going on after second cat delete I would suggest you save yourself a bit of grief by considering an hfc in the midpipe - costs a few hundred quid and meets MOT emissions without loss of sound - and the thought police/tree huggers are gathering to make emissions a hanging offence within three years...

Missed everyone at Gaydon. (What is a "Gay Don"? - all answers submitted on a £10 note get First Prize! A fiver..).

Look forward to our Xmas bash for those who don't make Rockingham.. and there seems to be little socialising over the next few months, is it Ebola or have your Tesco shares cost the family fortune? Not even a blurry Grasshopper to look forward to.. hrrmph..

That's the thing. I'm a bit of both, both looks and performance is important to me, however awesome the 9.5 rears look with their awesome deep concavidness (??? :D), it would just over tyre the car and make it a bit too grippy me thinks(and I'm sure someone say increase understeer) for my NA car, if I was going FI then I'd probably do it.....plus I can then swap wheels around more easily that way.

Looks great though 50mm is too much I would guess without using RCA's. What tyres and sizes are you running?

How much camber are you running on the rear? Looks like a lot in the pics.

Looks awesome mate, we need a trip out round the horseshoe pass / Evo triangle somepoint :D

The images make it look like same height as mine (wheel/arch), and im on 17's  Would definitely go for some RCA's if you haven't already...

Hmm white, low, and a custom exhaust, must be something to do with living around Chester

Nice pics. 50mm drop is not really to my taste, but I am loving seeing yet another white with coloured wheels. The 86 really suits that look!

I'm definitely raising it around 10mm this weekend, but no I don't have any RCA's. To be honest I have never even heard of them. Do they help with the handling I assume? Money is slightly tight at the moment, so I may have to leave these for a while, could running at this current height without RCA's damage anything? The camber is around -2.0 and the tyres are 225/40 rears and 215/40 fronts

To be honest the rear 9.5's like to slide a lot more than the original wheels, definitely no increase in understeer. Yea lets be honest the exhaust tips are all for show, I turned into a child when being asked how big I wanted them, "As big as you can make them", I'm probably making up for my small.... hands. I guess I will need a Sprintex SC in the near future to justify the size of them ;)

I have been looking at a HFC to be honest, as I am slight concerned about the police pulling me over, especially as I live and work down the road from a VOSA depot! Appreciate the advise, I will use it wisely.

Ha yes Jamie, will definitely have to take a trip out, as you can see a few of them pictures are taken on the horse shoe pass. God those roads are fun!! Let me know next time your free.

I forgot to mention, the ride at the moment is fairly soft. Not what I was expecting, I was expecting the dashboard to disintegrate and the wing mirrors to fall off. But instead it's a very pleasant drive, even when thrashing it along the country lanes. The only issue I have with the coilovers is the fact that Its just too low to park on my inclined driveway, with the bottom scrapping along , so its now parked on the road which I'm not too happy about. So that is the only reason why I'm lifting it by 10mm :-/

Well as you have it that low without roll centre adjusters, then you will likely encounter bump steer and the handling and roll centres will be severely compromised, so the car won't handle properly.

You can buy RCA's for the suspension components to help raise the roll centre and compensate for the car being lower which throws the suspension out of alignment.

When you say you are running around 2 degrees negative camber on the rear, you really need to know exactly what it is. This may cause increased tyre wear.

Also with 9.5" rims on 225's you will have a fair bit of stretch on those tyres which is great for sharpening things up handling wise, but dire for ride quality. Personal preference really. I admit I do like a bit of stretch as it takes the progressiveness out of the rear end and it's great for drifting. I'm expecting that those Rotas are prettty heavy too which will also affect how the car feels.

It's nothing disastrous but a 50mm drop is way too much. 40mm is too much without RCA's really, but it's up to you, depends upon what you want to use the car for.

I definitely recommend the RCA's for a drop that much, I think I'm somewhere between the 40mm and 50mm mark, and have felt no increased bump steer or handling issues, steering still feels like it did on standard suspension :D

Don't raise it, decrease the incline on the drive

Thanks guys, I will defiantly be looking at getting some RCA's then in the near future. I'm skint now, especially after ordering a shark fin and induction kit off Fensport  :P  Someone stop me buying stuff I don't need haha.

To be honest I wont be putting my car on the track, its mainly for a bit of fun on road. I've mainly concentrated on the looks, which some of you will hate me for. There is a lot of stretch to the rear tyres, as mentioned the back end loves to kick out more now so I'm guessing this is a contributing factor. But the ride quality at the moment is spot on, it is actually comfier than my wifes A4 which is lowered 35mm, crazy. But I suppose I need to come along to a meet to see what your cars feel like.

The wife said NO to me re-concreting the driveway, I did try but she isn't having it hahaha. I'm getting it raised about 8mm this afternoon so I can park the car off the road at night. I was going to do it myself, but tweeks are doing it on the house for me. I knew wearing high heels and my mankini would get me a few freebies

Got a few goodies in the post today from Fensport. SUS Power Induction Kit and a Beat Sonic aerial. I seriously regret never learning Japanese after looking at the Blitz instructions. Who has fitted one of these induction kits before, are they fairly straight forward?

Installed the Blitz SUS Induction Kit this Sunday, took me a few hours as mentioned the instructions are in Japanese. I'm not exactly good when it comes to mechanics so if I can do it, I'm sure anyone else on here can.

Surprising how much stuff comes out!!

As you can see I've had a custom manifold system installed last week and as recommended by Spec K I've gone for the HFC. The combination of the exhaust and manifold has now made the car incredibly loud, which I love, I'll upload a video of a start up and drive by soon.

And after a quick wash, I fitted the Shark Fin Aerial, makes the car look a lot smoother!
