VAD17 479 Report post Posted January 6, 2019 Event Title: The 64th Pomeroy TrophyEvent Author: VAD17Event Date: 16.02.2019 The 64th Pomeroy Trophy Saturday, February 16th, 2019 Silverstone https://blog.toyota.co.uk/is-your-toyota-a-winner-join-us-at-silverstone-to-find-out?fbclid=IwAR31j6UIt-ZmkNCdAObTQ5uDgrVg2uUwNm-SoE46tupG-vpeNKCaYzARWOc For more than half a century the men and women behind The Pom have awarded the winning car the accolade of best touring car, or all-rounder. So, in conjunction with the main contest, held on Saturday 16 February 2019, Toyota GB and the Vintage Sports-Car Club are inviting any road-going Toyota to join an exclusive event. It is called the Parallel Pomeroy Trophy and will take place on the same day at Silverstone, using elements of the same tests, and be assessed by the same judges as The Pom itself. The mission is to find the UK’s best Toyota! Competitors will participate in a series of autotest-style challenges, with a minimum of six tests scheduled on the day. A competition licence isn’t required, but a road driving licence is needed and passengers are not allowed to be on board during the tests. The handicap formula used to determine the scoring will take into account factors such as a car’s engine capacity, its year of manufacture and the times recorded on the tests. Run in the UK since 1952 by the Vintage Sports-Car Club (VSCC), the Pomeroy Trophy pits cars of all types and from all eras against each other using a unique series of calculations to ensure all are judged equally. The only strict requirement is that any car entering must be road legal. https://www.vscc.co.uk/page/events?eventID=1359&fbclid=IwAR3vjozmchVVrR8AtkcvH4VDOHtkUYhGtV8hbEtDaMHBWDF8TDIVmpKMK3k Entry Fee is £30 Spectating is free Who's participating and who will join to spectate? bassett 48 Report post Posted January 6, 2019 Sounds like a cool event, any idea what's involved for competitors as looking at the entry fee for the classics the Toyota entry is much less so wondering if it's a smaller list of events?

There's a Toyota event within it, which is £30. They are ideally looking for one of each model, so one GT86 entering to do autotest and a number of other things. Obviously you won't be racing on the track as such with the other cars. It explains it in the Toyota blog link if you want to have a go.
Andrew@DMS 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2019 A quick post to give this event a bump, and also to remind everyone that entry is free for spectators, so if you'd like to come along but didn't want to enter the contest itself, then you're more than welcome to join us - a mini-meet perhaps? It would be great to have some good support from the GT86 community! If you have any questions, then please either send me a PM or drop an email to pomeroy2019@dmsmedia.co.uk and I'll get back to you as soon as I can! :-) Cheers, Andrew@DMS

bassett 48 Report post Posted February 16, 2019 I entered this and had a cracking day out with the GT86. The Toyota GB team put on good show bringing along their hospitality centre, some new demonstrators as well as a few added bonuses. To kick the day off there was sign on, scrutineering and the compulsory Pom luggage check. Luckily the seats fold down flat on the 86 which passed with ease but the MR2 boys struggled. Next up there were 3 competitive timed tests, a slalom, acceleration and braking test and finally a auto test. The cars entering included pretty much one or more of every model and year Toyota I can think of including Corolla, yaris, MR2, supra, celica and obviously my 86, an aero and even a Prius or 3! It was good fun and nice to do something competitive in the car with zero risks. Just before lunch all the competitors got the chance to drive 3 parade laps of the GP circuit which was great fun and an unexpected bonus to the day. Ive never had a huge appreciation for Silverstone but it is massive and very impressive in person. Whilst the Toyota event was going on the main Pomeroy Trophy was underway with some amazing machines pounding round the track from pre war classics to a howling Chevron race car and rally spec mk2 escort with gearing so low it was bouncing off the limiter on the straights. Afternoon session had the same 3 events as the morning giving a chance to push a little harder. All competitors were given a Gazoo Racing wolly hat and Vintage sports car club engraved tankard trophies, it's the taking part that counts 😛 if Toyota put on the same event next year I'd thoroughly recommend it, I might even enter the main Pomeroy Trophy for the different elements and the added seat time round Silverstone. 2 VAD17 and Lauren reacted to this
