Insurance Companies - Forced Induction

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Any idea of the best insurance company around for modified GT86s? Specifically with a supercharger...

cheapest I can find is £1000/year, even with 20 years NCD!

Any of the specialists really. You'll need to do some phoning around. I've stuck with Adrian Flux now for a number of years as I trust them and they always come out on top for mine. I've called many of the others and get "we'll not be able to get anywhere near that." Those that do get near AF have always matched or beaten. Others that get mentioned for mods will be (in alphabetical order) AIB, Brentacre, Chris Knott, Competition Cars, Greenlight, Keith Michaels and Sky Insurance.

Sky asked for a very reasonable increase for the rest of the year after I've got TD turbo kit (and I had few mods already).

But i am up for renewal in a month, so will find out...

I'm only 21 and got a huge array of mods including a TD turbo kit with their stage 2 upgrade, coilovers, brakes, wheels, spoiler etc etc and I paid £690 for the year with Adrian Flux which I was over the moon with. It is for only 8000 miles a year but I'm only 22 with 4 years ncb

Hi.
Did you try ourselves in the end for insurance? If you did how did we do?
Regards,
Dan.
I have switched from Sky to Adrian Flux, but am still waiting for a call about promised track day insurance add-on (that's been nearly 2 weeks now and couple chasers from my end). Allegedly some information required for underwriters (my other track day insurance was arranged without delays), but so far I have heard 3 promises of call back.

Will post comments after its sorted, but has not been impressed with response so far...

Just renewed with them this week funnily enough, didn't look elsewhere as they came back with a price of £540 which I was very happy with!

My policy with Adrian Flux is now active, so I thought I would post a short update as well.

Adrian Flux was a lot more competitive than Sky (my previous insurer). They were not the best quote initially but matched the best one I received (including a NCD protection as standard). Getting account set up online and providing documents was easy.

There was a mix up with an offer of 5 track days insurance as an add-on. Was difficult to get any sensible response initially but thanks to @DAN@ADRIAN FLUX intervention (thanks Dan!) someone called me back and finally had a proper explanation. I ended up with no extra track day insurance (well, guess it would be Morris again next year as I would be looking for multi-day policy), but the fact that AF rep is on the forum gives me some confidence that AF would value its reputation among the club members sufficiently to address any queries or short out claims (which I hope to never have).

Overall I found getting quotes for a modified car (and particularly asking for a policy with added track days or an option to pay for track days similar to Greenlight) a bit of a kerfuffle - basically had to call half a dozen specialist and the price variation was quite wide (Sky for example after getting very reasonable price for remaining term of the policy after I got turbo installed decided to rake up the new quote by several hundred pounds). Some specialist brokers take their time to get back to you and it takes time to gather like-for-like list and get down to a shortlist of 2-3.
