Removing Reverse Lockout Shifter?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get the pin holding the reverse lockout shifter out?  Some videos suggest using a 'push-pin' while another uses a hex key and hammer.  What is the best tool for the job?

Definitely the push pin with a hammer. Can take a while with a fair bit of force but it will go.

Thanks, so where do I get a push pin from?  Do you know the diameter?

I just used a very small allen key and steadily tapped it out with a hammer, easy enough if your careful

I used a micro screwdriver and hammered it out. There are a couple of vids on YouTube.

Sorry if I sound silly, what is this reverse lockout all about? Is it just replacing the black sleeve you pull up to go into reverse?

Thanks, all.  I've ordered a small set of push-pins dead cheap from eBay.

@Sighe98 yes it's so that I can replace the black metal collar with a red one to match the red stitching in my car.
