New 'Online' Service History and non main dealer servicing?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

When i bought my 86 i was informed servicing history is now done on an online toyota portal by main dealers.

The obvious issue here is i dont want a main dealer touching my car and now i have to be concerned about recording the history / convincing a buyer in the future that may not be aware, that a specialist is better than an entry in this toyota digital record.

How are you guys handling this / have i misunderstood? Im used to having a book of stamps and all is well, this seems like an attempt to monopolise servicing and I dont want it to hurt my resale value!

Cheers for some insight

I’m based in London so will be using independents, I asked for a book from Steven eagle and they pretty much laughed and didn’t do anything (literally the worst purchasing experience I could possibly imagine with this car) so I don’t have a book and don’t ever want to speak to that dealer again.

Any way I can order a book and get it stamped at a different dealer?

Any dealer should be able to strap it... As they all have the records, that's the point of it being online.

Surely your dealer should be able to give you one as they issue them when you buy the car.

I’ve not got one. Richard pointed that out on my last service, I thought it was in the pack but it wasn’t.

I guess it's okay if you can use 'My Toyota' and simply look up what was done on your car. I have the book all stamped. My Toyota hasn't worked for ages for me. It just doesn't load.

And the site doesn't work in Chrome.

yeah im not going back to a toyota dealer ever again unless i have to, specialists from here on out hence the want for the paper book. I finally logged into my service history online and its equally poor, so ill give them a call and try and get a book!

I have no issues with Motorline Gatwick and also My Toyota Porta all works fine for me

They also Stamp the Service Book too

They are also happy to fit Aftermarket Options to my car when required

By the way I don't go to Motorline Horsham since I told them what to do with their Dealership back in 2014

My car (which has been fully main dealer serviced) came with a book and it has been stamped by both of the dealers who have serviced it.

The online versions are not very accurate (the description of what work was carried out is difficult to understand, and the mileage is incorrect for many of the entries). I have tried to get this corrected both through the dealers and through Toyota UK, with no success.

As far as proving to a new owner that the car has been serviced, I always ask to see copies of the invoices for previous services when I'm buying a car. It's far too easy to forge a stamp in a service book.

(At one point there was a huge trade in dealer stamps for Porsche dealerships which no longer existed, as the value of the cars was very sensitive to the completeness of the service history, and it was impossible for a buyer to check with a dealership that had shut down).
