Hello buys and gals,

Could you recommend somebody that could get stone chips and swirl marks sorted?It looks that the previous owner didn't care about the car as much. I got it properly cleaned today and I managed to discover loads of chips on the front (bonnet,bumper,wings) and also some on the sides too.. It is unbelievable how thin the paint is. If you know someone from the club that can do it but is far away I can leave the car with them let say for a weekend. Thanks in advance!

Chips Away aren't so bad, provided your car is a colour they're willing to have a go at. It's not easy to do perfectly though. A sand and respray is the only way to get rid of the divots in the bumper plastic below the paint.

Also, of course the paint is thin! It costs money and weight to put more on, and it still doesn't make it chip-proof. My great granddad used to work in a coachworks painting Rolls Royces in the 40's and 50's. That was something like twelve coats painted on by brush and sanded down - they don't paint them like that any more!

Chips aren't so easy to sort and are generally pretty time consuming if you have a lot of them you may as well get it resprayed because it'd work out cheaper and arguably look better. You can make them practically invisible to the general eye but you'r be there a good week.

My advice would be to get it painted and have a detailer polish it and put a ceramic coating on. Which I can do, but i'm sure there's someone closer to you also.

Yeah. Probably will get the bumper and the bonnet resprayed and will see how to tackle the odd chips on the wings. Then do the ceramic coating. It is that bloody holiday with the missus that is eating the budget
