Collected my car today from Rogue Motorsport after having a few bits done including a custom airbox for the HKS filter to prevent the heat soak it suffered being an open filter. The box is wrapped in heat protective material on the bottom half and after an approx 70 mile drive was barely lukewarm so seems to be doing its job well.

While the car was at Rogue Motorsport they also made me a manifold/overpipe combo to try along with a new sports cat pipe with an extra resonator added.

It's a work of art and seems a massive shame for it to be hidden away under the car!

And a picture on the car showing the sports cat and resonator section too

Looks lovely and resembles the ACE though not exactly same 4-2-1 design. What does the dyno tell us in terms of gains, Jeff? Not heard of Rogue but they have done a ve4y decent job with the JDL cat removal too. You sure have expensive tastes with manifolds

It is a similar design ethos to the Ace manifolds and basically combines the best bits of the Ace 350 and 400 manifolds.

Gains are pretty impressive across the board but especially in the torque dip area with gains of over 20lbft and almost 20hp over the JDL set up.

After I collected the car I took it up to Mike and TD for him and Nick to work their magic on the mapping.

My car has always dyno'd pretty low but the gains the new manifold and intake set up have made are pretty significant even over the decent gains the JDL had made. The torque dip is now a peak. One slightly unexpected thing is that the new set up has lost a little bit to the JDL set up around the 5.5-6.5k rpm range but then picks up again after that. The difference low down is very noticeable though especially in normal driving where you can really feel the extra power and torque.

First dyno picture is the new set up against the JDL catless manifold, second is the new set up against the first set up I had dyno'd at td (Cobra non res catback, intake pipe, HKS panel filter and EcuTek map)

Interesting results. Thanks for sharing and glad you are having the gains. Looking at the graphs, the JDL did not get rid of the torque dip, while i expected it to eliminate it, as a very well regarded UEL but may be the USA folks have different dynos and conditions.

How does the manifold sound on full throttle? Is it audible, raspy etc etc. compared to the JDL? Do you still have the catback and does it sound any different in terms of loudness ( except the burble, of course).

It's pretty much impossible to remove the torque dip without a long tube header (of either the TD type which goes up into the engine bay, or this type that uses the overpipe as part of the manifold runner) so while manifolds like the JDL, Tomei etc will help they won't remove it.

The sound is now swapped from the UEL burble to the El noise (not sure how to describe that to be honest!) I still have the same catback (HKS HiPower Spec L) so apart from the burble the general sound is similar. No rasp or anything I've noticed and my set up is definitely on the quieter end of the spectrum so I don't have track day noise limit problems. Probably best described as sounding quite like stock but with a deeper, bassier note. I'll get some videos using the same external mic set up as the videos I've posted with the JDL which should give a pretty good comparison.

My oem wiper blades finally gave up the ghost and disintegrated so I replaced them with a set of Bosch Aerotwin wipers. Difference is very noticeable and they're much quieter. IMG_20181209_122353__01_Hagrid_Clean.jpg.46ba35d944c7b032a91bfaf0e050bbb9.jpg

I also added a couple of 'safety' warning stickers in the cabin

I tried aerotwins, found them smeary, so switched back to classic design wipers.

At the moment I can't fault them at all, no smearing etc. It may be because I've also had the screen treated when it was detailed recently though?

I've just put aero twins on as well, with a fresh coating of gtechniq g1... seem fine, no smearing and a dry windscreen after wiping

That's what I'm finding currently

Had a winter protection detail done recently as the car hadn't been detailed for absolutely ages. Took the car to Perfect Polish in Shrewsbury and was very impressed with their work. The winter protection detail includes the following:-

Full safe wash & decontamination (tar & fallout treatment)
Hand polish
6 month paintwork sealant
Wheels deep cleaned and protected
Windscreen rain repellent treatment
Full interior valet

Few before and afters:-

Entirely possible it was a duff batch. I had just treated the screen with g1 when I put them on.

Currently running Bosch Super Plus which seem really good and are half the price.

Stock ones and the ones I had on previously both juddered after putting g1 on, aero twins didn't which surprised me.

Most Bosch wipers on eBay are fakes, I've been duped before into thinking they were poor.

Neither set were from ebay, could be fakes, but who knows.

Quick update. I wanted to keep the intake temps down further so I bought some DEI Reflect-a-gold to wrap the metal intake pipe and the top of the airbox. The intake pipe definitely needed wrapping as was becoming noticeably hot after a run. The airbox top not so much but was becoming a little warm so I figured I may as well to reduce any convection heat.

The bottom of the box was already wrapped with teknofibra which is very high temp resistant as this is where the main radiant heat from the manifold would be hitting.

I also ordered a new intake scoop from Autofactory in Japan. It's much, much bigger than the oem scoop and Autofactory developed it for use on their Super Taikyu 86's.

It's being fitted in a few weeks and should provide a ram-air effect at speed while also keeping the intake air temps down even further.
