  1. Hi. I have a rare set of speedline turinis for sale. These are perfect for an 86 as they are the same offset and centre bore as the stock wheels. 5x100 PCD 7.5J width ET48 56.1 centre bore They come with 2x uniroyal rainsport 5's and 2x uniroyal rainsport 3's each with just under 8mm of tread left so they are practically brand new. These are in size 215/45/R17. All the wheels are straight and true, with no buckles. They have ben resprayed from the original gold. Come with original centre caps. There is some minor curb rash and cosmetic damage but it is minor. These are professional motorsport wheels used in plenty of different motorsports. They are flowformed so they are super strong and very light. I am selling as these do not fit on my car, my center bore is too big. I am after £1200 ONO. I am interested in trades too. I am looking at 17 inch wheels, 7J/8J depending on offset. With tyres too ideally. Centre bore needs to be minimum 57.1 (I have a skoda). Any higher centre bore I can use spigot rings. Collection from Liversedge West Yorkshire or I can deliver within 50 miles for fuel money. Pictures below:
  2. My lovely car is gone, but the winter wheels remain. All four rims are in good-ish condition with some surface marks but nothing drastic. See pictures for details. The tyres on the rims are as follows: Goodyear ultragrip performance 91V: 8, 9, 8 mm Goodyear ultragrip performance 91V: 8, 9, 8 mm Dunlop Wintersport 5 91V: 6, 6, 6 mm Dunlop Wintersport 5 91V: 6, 6, 6 mm No centre caps. £300 ono, buyer collects, or drop off near Cambridge if you really need it.
  3. Hello Everyone, I have got a set of Michelin Primacy HP for sale. Size:215/45/17 All have around 6mm tread left. No cracks on any tyres. £150 for a set Location: Portsmouth, or can deliver with cost of fuel. More pics can be provided.
  4. 4 * Michelin Primacy HP tyres 215/45 R17 87W No puncture repairs. Between 4 and 5.5 mm tread depth left (when new around 9mm). A bit of rubber stuck to them from a track day but it'll come off when driven. £30 each tyre Would prefer collection from South Cheshire but could negotiate delivery or meetup further afield.
  5. I was getting vague unconvincing answers when I asked suppliers for the difference between Primacy HP and Primacy 3 tyres, so I wrote to Michelin. This is what they said. Thank you for contacting MICHELIN customer services. MICHELIN Primacy 3 is summer tyre for passenger cars and SUVs, introduced in 2012, it´s a development of MICHELIN Primacy HP that was launched in 2006 as a summer tyre for passenger cars only. Primacy 3 is an actual model, while Primacy HP is not being included in main product catalogues anymore and it might not be available in stock in some dimensions that it used to be produced in. The main difference is that the Primacy 3 features newer technologies, like a new compound, then grooves are improved and sipes were numbered. A tyre can consist of up to 16 different rubber compounds. However, the tyre manufacturers keep the exact composition to themselves. In order to make a good tyre, a lot is demanded of the rubber compound: low abrasion, tear-resistance, anti-slip properties, low rolling resistance, dynamic stability, air tightness and resistance to ageing. The tyre tread is made from this compound and the performance level of a tyre when driving essentially depends on this - in the wet, or in hot conditions, and when transferring lateral or linear power. The tread compound also partly determines mileage and noise properties. MICHELIN Primacy 3 Fuel efficiency: C- A Wet grip: B - A Noise level: 68 - 71 dB MICHELIN Primacy HP Fuel efficiency: F - B Wet grip: C - A Noise level: 70 dB I'm a little annoyed with my local Toyota dealer for having fitted two HPs to mine. Oh well, probably won't make too much difference when all's said and done. Quite a good response from Michelin though I think. Bob
  6. Hi all, It's not related to my GT86 but family members tyres, but thought maybe it's ok to post in here regarding tyres as it might help others? Either I am about to make a massive idiot of myself or my below thinking would be correct... A family member purchased 2 of the same model tyres as below. Both tyres have "inside" written on the left hand sides of the tyres. So I imagined one tyre on the right front of the car as the centre strip of rubber, when the car is moving forward when in contact with water it would help dissipate water to the grooves? However, we noticed that the middle strip of rubber where it has one groove line from the centre moving to the outside, that one line would be facing differently if you placed it on the left hand side of the vehicle. Even if it doesn't affect wet weather driving, surely tread patterns should be the same? It will have some affect? There is also no indication of direction on the tyres, just the word "inside". Anyone able to offer some insight?
  7. As the title says, 2 part worn Yokohama V105 Sports. 1 measures 6mm, 6mm, 6mm across. The other 4mm, 5mm, 6mm. Slight sidewall damage on one as seen in the photos. These have just passed an MOT with an advisory but I decided to change them anyway. Would do a couple of track sessions if anyone wants them. Collect from Wakefield or I’m in Boroughbridge most weekends.

    Alloys/Tyre advice

Think of getting 18" alloys for my gt86. Obviously standard is 17". What profile of tyres are people running on 18" alloys or should i stick to stock 17"?? Thanks in advance
  9. Set of 4 alloys and tyres for sale.Alloys:Fondmetal 9RRSatin black17 x 7 ET45CB 56.1 (fits standard hubs with no need for spigot rings)These weigh 7.45kg so a saving vs standard. See pics below for comparison of standard wheel and primacy vs these alloys and Yokohama2 of the alloys have tiny kerb marks which may just be visible in the photos. So tiny I just touched in with black paint.Tyres:Yokohama V105 extra load 215/45/ZR17/91YTwo about 5mm, one 4mm, one 3mm treadCentre caps and wheel nuts included both with a little corrosion as seen in the photos. Location: St Neots, CambsPrice: £300, pickup only due to size and weight.

    The Tyre Thread

Evening all, Given the amount of mixed reviews online, and general chatter about "What tyre" is the one to go for... I thought I'd start a thread. (I did a search but didn't find anything). It's an especially hot topic on our cars. Some people want outright grip, others want a slippy car! Personally I want somewhere in between, and I think the standard tyres are a bit too on edge in the wet. I'm looking to replace the Michelins with something a bit better. I've previously ran Goodyear Eagle F1's on a Golf GTI, and they were fantastic! Not sure how they'd suit the GT86 though? Another well priced option is Kumho KU39, which MX5 owners seem to rave. Since its a similar car (Small, lightweight and RWD) maybe thats the route to go? Will be interested to hear your thoughts, and give me your advice and experience. Cheers.

Tyre age and (lack of) traction

Hi guys, I just got my GT86 and it has Goodyear F1 AS2 tyres on it - 225/45 R17 with around 6mm tread. I am finding there is VERY little grip available. On a a very slight bend (5 degrees or so) uphill, accelerating in 3rd gear in the wet, it broke traction quite dramatically. It does the same with less than 1/2 throttle in 2nd gear, from around 2,500 rpm on any sort of corner. The front pushes across the tarmac really badly in the wet and even a fair amount in the dry. From everything I have read about the car, not even the standard tyres should do this? I have had my fair share of rear drive cars (with a lot more power) in my past and this isn't even 30% of the grip level which is the opposite of what I expected. So, my question is: Is this normal and to be expected, or should I be replacing my tyres asap!? Don't want to blow £400 or so and find I am back where I started, but with a spare set of tyres Thanks, Graeme
  14. Full set of Toyota GT86 (mk. 1) / Subaru BRZ alloys wheels. Complete with 4 x original Michelin Primacy HP Tyres. 1: Minor kerbing. >3mm tread. 2: Tiny kerbing, >2mm tread. 3: Small kerbing, 6.5mm tread. 4: Kerbing, 3.5mm tread. The wheels were painted with plastic-dip by the previous owner. This was not done very well and has started to peel. This has, however, protected the paint on the alloys very well. The plastic-dip peels easily. One of the alloys is relatively badly kerbed. The others do have kerb marks, one is very minor. The wheels have done around 20k miles. Listed for £200 elsewhere but open to offers for forum members. Located in Hinckley.
  15. OEM wheels. Some marks here and there but nothing deep. Worst is pictured. Tyres went through MOT last month but are getting low. Pick up. Hull £180

    First 'useful' change

Just wondering what people's recommendations are for tyres. Car isn't lowered or anything, been wondering about whether or not to change size. We're pretty open to anything atm so if you have an opinion please share.
  17. Hi all, While doing some research on what size alloys and tyres I could potentially go for I came across this website. I am trying to fill out the arch gap and also get the wheels to come out a bit more without using spacers. Arch gap isn't as important. Anyway, enter your current sizes and then your proposed sizes and it gives you details of how far away it will be from suspension strut and how far it will come out and with a really nice diagram. FYI OEM sizes are below in case anyone needs them. Width 215 Profile 45 Diameter 17 Width 7" Offset 48 (I believe).

    Tyres to suit 17x8 rims?

Getting a set of 17x8" rims next week, tyre spec will (probably) be 225/45R17. On my list so far; Uniroyal Rainsport 3, Michelin CrossClimate and Conti Sport Contact 5. Anyone tried these or offer alternatives?
