  5. Some of you may remember that we joined up with LoT last year to offer some sensible and cheap trackdays to our Premium Members. We're doing the same this year as last year was such a success. This is the third day on the list but i'm posting it before the second... just because I can! Donington has been requested by a few people so hopefully we can have a good day at this one. The only prerequisite to joining up on these trackdays is that you are currently a Premium Member. If you sign up and aren't a Premium Member of the GT86 Drivers Club you will be refunded your money and your booking cancelled. The circuit is one of the truly great circuits in Europe with a mix of fast and slow corners and with one of the most famous sections in the world, the Craner Curves. Not suitable for your first ever track day. Directions & Accommodation: Click Here Length: 1.9 miles Noise limit: 98db driveby at trackside** Format: Open Pit Lane Price: £175 until 1/6 then £199 Instruction: £25 Crash Helmets: £20 2nd Drivers: FREE (must sign on by 16.45 and attend first briefing. Must also be experienced track day driver and complete the sighting laps.) Passengers: FREE ** Noise – please note it is 98db drive by at trackside – there is no static test. You must bring a full driving licence which will be checked at sign on. ANY vehicle without a hard top or fixed roof will require occupants to wear full face helmets. Final instructions will be emailed out 3 days before the event. To book go to the following link: http://goo.gl/i90CfE
  6. This is the second LoT Trackday we have the pleasure of attending this year. Blyton is a bit of a favourite as not only is it part of the TSS every year, it's also a great technical. but short track for the GT86 & BRZ. On top of that, it's relatively cheap! The only prerequisite to joining up on these trackdays is that you are currently a Premium Member. If you sign up and aren't a Premium Member of the GT86 Drivers Club you will be refunded your money and your booking cancelled. Originally a WW2 airfield Blyton Park was for many years used for the odd grasstrack event, but new owners have breathed new life into the circuit. With new tarmac and plenty of grass and concrete run off Blyton is a deceptively fast and technical circuit, which can challenge experienced drivers, yet also provide a fun and safe first time out experience for novices. 1.6miles long, the track is fairly flat. Maybe the UK’s Abbeville. The day will run in open pit lane format. Directions: click here Length: 1.6 miles Noise limit: 105db static / 95db drive by 20m Format: Open Pit Lane Price: £125 Instruction: £25 Crash Helmets: £20 2nd Drivers: FREE You must bring a full driving licence which will be checked at sign on. Final instructions will be emailed out 3 days before the event In order to book on to this day click the following link: http://goo.gl/x8VJDE
  7. Luckily i've been able to secure us a nice little track here, some of you may remember that we joined up with LoT last year to offer some sensible and cheap trackdays to our Premium Members. We're doing the same this year as last year was such a success. The first day on the list is Anglesey, which is probably going to be favourable for those who are doing the TSS, it may give you a chance to familiarise yourself with parts of the circuit beforehand. The only prerequisite to joining up on these trackdays is that you are currently a Premium Member. If you sign up and aren't a Premium Member of the GT86 Drivers Club you will be refunded your money and your booking cancelled. Day is being run in Open Pit Lane format and suitable for all experience levels. Directions & Accommodation: HERE Length: 2.1 (GP) & 1.55 (coastal) miles Noise limit: 105db static Format: Open Pit Lane Price: £235 Instruction: £25 Crash Helmets: £20 2nd Driver: FREE (must sign on by 8.25am and attend first briefing at 8.30am. Seat belt shoulder guides

Hi I collected my lovely GT86 Giallo from the dealer yesterday. It is just under a year old and has been used both as a demo model and as the sales manager's own vehicle. When I inspected it, I saw no marks on the body work and nothing worn in the interior but then I did get in from the driver's side to take it for a test drive before agreeing to purchase. When I got home, however, I noticed that the seat belt shoulder guide was missing on the passenger side and that it had been wrenched out so that it had pulled out the fixing stud too, leaving a small hole in the leather. I could not possibly have seen this from where I sat in the driver's seat for the test drive and feel that the dealer should have brought it to my attention before handing over the vehicle. I know I bought it second hand but, when I rang the dealer, to report the matter less than two hours after driving away, he said he didn't think he could do anything for me. I have left him to investigate. It has totally ruined my excitement and pleasure at getting the vehicle as I feel cheated because the sales manager must have been aware of the damage and I feel he had a duty to point it out. He even tried to get me to take the car without the owner's handbook, which he had lost, but I persuaded him to let me have the one from a new GT86 that was sitting in the showroom. Has anyone else had a similar experience and do you know whether the pulled out stud is covered under warranty? I don't imagine the missing guide strap is covered so can these be purchased anywhere? I think the dealer must have felt he got away with it because I'm a 72 year old woman who won't make a fuss but I shall go to the top if I have to. I would really appreciate any help from fellow GT86 owners.

    TSS Round 6 @ Snetterton 100

The Snetterton 100 circuit in Norfolk utilises a split so that we can run the circuit with a lapping procedure which doubles the length. Starting at the circuit access point at Agostini and then running the circuit as normal until you reach the split after Palmer where you run left on the first lap into Agostini at speed and using the right lane of the split to go through the finish before leaving circuit. The longer circuit length means that are big gains to be made for those who perfect their technique. Circuit Layout – 100 Circuit Circuit Length – Approx 1.9 Miles Competiton Licence* – Available for purchase at signing on for £5 per individual event or £15 for the year Competition Plates, Numbers & Sticker Packs* – Available for collection at the events only at a one off cost of £10. You are required to display competition plates with your competiton numbers on your doors throughout the event along with the series sponsor stickers. We advise that you mount your stickers on magnetic plates if you wish to remove them between events Helmet Hire* – Available on the day for £15 *Please note that all transactions on the day are cash only Purchase Entry

    TSS Round 5 @ Croft

TSS ventures up north for a trip to what is a lot of people favourite venue in Croft Circuit, Darlington. Starting and finishing on the start/finish straight we run almost the entire unaltered circuit bar a few hundred metres which means those who are commited can make big gains in Crofts fast sweeping corners before negotiating the hairpin for a clean finish. We are able to use Croft by using a day that would normally be unavailable to us by utilising careful noise management. This means that noise is strictly monitored at this venue as individuals can push the average noise levels up and spoil the event for everyone so those who are taking part in the preceding rounds should be well aware by this point if they need to carry out some work on the car before attending this round. Drivers who are found to be causing a problem will be removed from the event so the quieter everyone is the better the event will run so the whole series should try and ensure their vehicles are as quiet as can they can be. Circuit Length – Approx 1.9 Miles Competiton Licence* – Available for purchase at signing on for £5 per individual event or £15 for the year Competition Plates, Numbers & Sticker Packs* – Available for collection at the events only at a one off cost of £10.

TSS Round 4 @ Anglesey Circuit

TSS goes overseas and travels abroad to the island of Anglesey for it’s first ever event outside of England. Anglesey Circuit is a new additional to calendar for 2016 and well worth the trip, you’ll be able to tackle the circuits challenging corners whilst enjoying the scenic views. TSS will be sharing this event with the Javelin Trackdays Sprint Series so this means that entries for each series will initially be limited so they are shared equally between them so we advise you to get your entry in ealy so as not to miss out. Circuit Length – TBC Competiton Licence* – Available for purchase at signing on for £5 per individual event or £15 for the year Competition Plates, Numbers & Sticker Packs* – Available for collection at the events only at a one off cost of £10. TSS Round 3 @ Woodbridge

Woodbridge Airfield in Suffolk has been a staple for the TSS calendar since 2008. The layout resembles a rally stage in nature more than a circuit with by far the most corners of any of the venues, from tight and twisty sections to fast sweeping corners it has a little of everything and rewards the braver drivers to are willing to attack it. The track dips in and out of the hangar complex and although very open the small bushes at the side of the track can make it feel narrow at times but give the driver a greater sense of speed than anything else on the calendar. As it’s an airfield we have an almost endless number of configurations we can use so the circuit is rarely exactly the same every visit, cones and plastic blocks are used to define the track but only at junctions. Using a lot of the normal trackday circuit layout means the surface gets regular use to scrub the surface (you can even clearly see where the track goes by looking at a satellite view of the airfield) but the track being used gets cleaned using our Hurricane blower beforehand to make it as clean as possible. Circuit Length – Approx 1.3 Miles Competiton Licence* – Available for purchase at signing on for £5 per individual event or £15 for the year Competition Plates, Numbers & Sticker Packs* – Available for collection at the events only at a one off cost of £10. You are required to display competition plates with your competiton numbers on your doors throughout the event along with the series sponsor stickers. TSS Round 2 @ Blyton Park

Blyton Park in Lincolnshire has become a series regular since it first appeared on the calendar back in 2011. At the time it was a somewhat dirty bit of concrete using bales and tyres to mark out a course on what was left of the runway and was closer to a rally stage than a sprint course. That winter however the circuit was transformed by a new owner and a large investment into the drivers playground it is today, the concrete surface of the airfield is still in place but now it serves as runoff for the silky smooth surface of the tarmac layed into it. This means that the venue has the benefits of a race circuit but without the barriers that come with it allowing drivers to explore their limits knowing they have that forgiving extra runoff. Blyton Park also boasts several confirgurations after further tarmac was layed over the past few years meaning the two appearances on the calendar provide more than enough variety to warrant the extra visit. Circuit Layout – TBC Circuit Length – Approx 1.6 Miles Competiton Licence* – Available for purchase at signing on for £5 per individual event or £15 for the year Competition Plates, Numbers & Sticker Packs* – Available for collection at the events only at a one off cost of £10. You are required to display competition plates with your competiton numbers on your doors throughout the event along with the series sponsor stickers. Grasshopper Social - 30th January

    until
  20. Evening all, I was wondering what everyones experience is with Warranty jobs? The scenario is I've booked my 2012 GT86 in at Toyota as I've got a few issues: Fogging up/condensation in the rear lights Key light flashing orange with bleep every now and then when I get out the car. Random starting issues (takes a while to start sometimes, requires some attention from the throttle to get going) I cant put the passenger window down with the switch on the drivers door. When I open the Drivers door, the window pops down as normal. When I shut it, it doesn't pop back up! Meaning I have to go around the passenger side before I switch the ignition off to lean over and fully close the window! Now I bought the car used with 2 years warranty still remaining on it back in September. Does anyone think they will try and wiggle out of the above issues? I've heard of other manufactures long warranties not being worth the paper they're written on. It's a bit annoying that I've bought a new-ish car with warranty to try and dodge niggly problems and it's exactly what I've got! It's also annoying that they cant fit me in until the 25th to look at it, but if they're busy I cant really do much about it. Any other advice about working with Toyota to get these issues resolved is appreciated. I realise this is a bit of a "Non-Problem" but knowing my luck, it can only get worse ! haha. Cheers.

    Next years TSS Shoes

Looking for shoes for next years Toyota Sprint Series for Balloo Enkei are releasing the GTC01RR in Feb and it's on my shortlist, but does anyone else have any suggestions for shoes? I was going to go for the RS05RR but these look more similar to my current wheels and I do like my Titans but could always do with something lighter. It's worth noting the GTC01RR are 18" and i'm looking at a Staggered fitment 8.5" front 9.5" rear aware that it's going to induce understeer but I think with a little bit of play on the geo setup all will be fine and dandy. They come in at about £1600 which isn't too bad and a fraction of the price of forged offerings on the market at a near identical weight. I would have already got them but xmas has ruined me money wise so they are on the back burner until around Feb anyway.
  23. This has been due for a while, Chris @chillismoke contacted me to help him detail his 86 in preparation for Japfest, I think that was back in May or something! Anyway we agreed on a weekend to do this, he popped down on the Saturday (unfortunately arriving a tad late which ended up causing some issues which i'll touch on later) There aren't any before pictures as the purpose of this thread it really to document what we done to get the car sealed step by step (Albeit missing a few pictures) I'd rather people didn't drum on this thread about how polishing an 86 is pointless, if you do it will just be deleted. For those that know chris you will know he doesn't hang about on the TSS and goes "balls deep" so to speak in that department too Products Used (in no particular order) - 5 Million Microfibres - Autobrite Purple Rain - Autobrite Citrus Wash - Autobrite Purple Velvet - Poorboys wheel cleaner - A mixture of polishing pads & Autobrite/3M Compounds - Autobrite snowfoam - The entire Gtechniq range The Good Stuff So first off with it being relatively warm I gave the car a light spray with the hose, to cool it down so the foam didn't dry up too quick (This got some loose bits of dirt off) Then we attacked it with the foam lance. This was left to dwell for around 10 minutes, topping up the coat halfway through so it didn't dry. Next up we got the citrus wash out and applied it to the entire car (paying particular attention to the front & rear bumpers, bonnet and lower quarter of the car. (This aids the removal of traffic film & bugs) This was then left to dwell then jetwashed off after a few minutes. Sprayed in to the arches also On to the wheels with the Poorboys wheel cleaner (I needn't have bothered as chris got them off later and clayed them down to apply the c5!) Wheels were then rinsed (Oops, no picture. Blame the photographer for engaging in conversation with the homeowners ) On to the washing, purple velvet goes in to the bucket. (We used two buckets for obvious reasons I will not explain) Panels were done in the following order (Bonnet, roof & upper 3rd of body panels, boot, lower 2/3rds of body then bumbers) Due to heat each panel was jetwashed on the fly Once all panels were washed we got the car back on to the driveway under the marquee to begin claying (This took us around 4 hours I think...) Once this was done I began the polishing process, it was all going swimmingly until I started doing the front bumper and not being able to cut it at all. Due to an accident Chris had it was resprayed by RRG and I have to say rich, it was a poor job! Worse orange peel than you get from the factory! Lets hope the painter was having a bad day? I managed to cut it back a bit but it was a lost cause without wetsanding and a rotary.... Something we really didn't have the time to do! Chris got the wheels off and began to clay them and he applied C5 to them in the meantime after some instruction by me So the car was polished up, 98% swirl free. I say 98% as at this point we was behind schedule with Chris arriving late and having issues with the whole front end. We were about 2 hours behind. OOPS! The glass was polished with Gtechniq G4 and then the Gtechniq G1 was applied and residue removed with Gtechniq G2 Once done, we moved on to applying the Gtechniq C1, but before hand we gave every panel a wipe over with Gtechniq Panel Wipe, aka expensive watered down isopropyl alcohol. At this point, once the residue was removed we had ran out of time, it was nearing dark, we needed to wait for the C1 to cure for 6 hours before applying the EXO. We left the car for a few hours then chris went on his journey home! To my knowledge I don't think he applied the EXO yet. and due to condensation overnight water spots appeared in the C1 layer. These were barely noticeable (I doubt any of you noticed them at Japfest but none the less a pain in the arse) They can be clayed out but really a polish is the quickest option. As it was only on the roof mainly Chris clayed it. Other bits we done were the interior with Gtechniq though we didn't get pictures of this. Anyway here are some after pictures If anyone has any questions about any of the products used or further detail on anything fire away! I appreciate 90% of you won't be this anal about your 86.
