    Oil coolers / baffled sumps

Looking to get my car more "track safe" with an oil cooler this year meaning I can spend less time worrying about oil temps. So far following my discussion with some suppliers the HKS kit is the leader. Just wondered if anyone else is running this kit and had any thoughts on it? Also baffled sumps and larger oil pick ups. Worth while on a road and track car? Or a bit over kill if only running on standard road tyres etc? Thanks Gavin
  2. Had these on my car and was very happy with them. Only moved on to coilovers as I was doing more track work and needed more adjustment. Give I nice little drop that suits the car well and doesn't need any other parts or compromise the ride. They were on my car for about 7000 miles and are in good condition with only a couple of spots of surface rust. £80 ono collected from ss14 in Essex Have pictures showing the ride height on oem wheels and 18's if that helps Thanks Gsvin

GR Yaris who's going for it?

Yes I dedicated my lunch break earlier in the week to listening to that collecting cars one.

GR Yaris who's going for it?

Was that review posted above the Clarkson one? Seems to be written in his kind of style. Also I see Chris Harris has caused some online fallout with his comments regarding a social media person and a GR Yaris.

    Cat Back fitting cost.

TD exhaust is a great bit of kit and there are 3 versions to choose from to get your desired volume. If you are local to TD I think they have one version fitted to their demo car so would be a good way to hear it in person. The N1 is VERY loud. Plus if you fit a manifold in the future it gets even louder. Local member to us has one and you can literally hear him coming from miles away

    Ecutek

As with any tuning modification on an NA engine it is expensive for a little gain. Changes the power delivery and makes it much easier to drive which I like. Does it feel faster, not really. Would I do it again, probably as it does make for a nicer drive. I assume from your other comments you may have had a turbo car before. You will never get the cost vs performance gains you get with those cars with these unfortunately.

GR Yaris who's going for it?

For tall people like me the best thing they have done is develop lower seat rails. I would certainly be buying a set of those!

I am sure someone with one will be able to offer some feedback. I got so confused with which manifolds were better then others in the end I just went with a complete package. When I was looking there wasn't a 2nd hand manifold available so the price of hand picking new parts vs the TD package was less. So I went for the drive up north and found myself a cheap hotel and let mike work his magic.

    Fitting header + ecutek

I think most of these points were covered in the other topic. But for emissions you will lose one cat from the manifold but retain the under car cat. I have this same setup on my car with the Tuning developments manifold. It will fail an MOT if they test it cold. But if you take it for a hard drive before had to get it nice and hot it will pass fine. I have done this for the last 3 years without issue with a very picky MOT station.

Certainly possible to get a cheaper price then the Tuning Developments package with second hand parts etc. Would be worth contacting the likes of Abbey directly for advice though. In the end I just went with the tuning developments package as it was drive in and drive out and I knew all the parts were hand picked to give a good proven package. Certainly wouldnt be attempting to map a car myself though unless I knew exactly what I was doing. Gets very expensive if you get it wrong!

    Reyland brake kit

So I am 90% sure I am going to go for this brake kit unless something else pops up. Just finalising some of the options and wanted to ask opinions and gain some feedback: What pads are people running. I see they come supplied with ds2500 but didn't know if it was worth asking for something different? I have mixed feelings on the ds2500 from past use.... I have heard rumors of problems with the supplied braided lines. Is this widespread? Also do they come with the tab to mount them to the suspension strut? Wondered if was worth buying these separately. Any recommendations on what pattern to get for the disks? Was thinking "c hook" but didn't know if some were noisier then others or were preferable. I was just going to spec the normal Reyland own discs. Also red or black for an orange car? I'm swaying to black....

    Reyland brake kit

I do agree with that point they seem to have a good backing plate and seem well finished. I have to file loads off the PFC pads I had to get them to fit comfortable and as you say these slot straight in. Kind of tempted to just order the complete kit from Reyland with these just to get me started. Its only the fact I didn't like the feel of them in the OEM 86 callipers that is putting me off.
  14. Great set of coil overs for the GT86. @will300 is a great seller too, I bought a set of flex A coil overs from him in the past and they are still going strong. These ones are even freshly serviced, what's not to like

    Fensport vs Tuning Developments

Me neither, very interesting and well done article.

    Reyland brake kit

Some good info, confirms my hunch that I should avoid the DS2500 that comes as standard and spec something else.

    Coilover help required

Its very hard to tell without seeing/hearing. If you can re-create the noise as you say using the sill. Could you do this whilst on a four post ramp and see if it can be identified to a more confined area? I had persistent noise on an old set of coil overs on an old car that I could never fully trace. it appeared to be something relating the top mount but I could never work it out. Was certainly the top mount or shock as it was a rear one and the left and right were the same. If you swapped them over the noise followed..... So I know the frustration of a noise you cannot trace Fortunately the GT86 and its flex A have been silent Even the pillowball top mounts don't add much road noise.

    Oil coolers / baffled sumps

Wouldn't happen to have any pictures? I assume its just an L shaped bracket that allows it to mount to the crash panel?

    Reyland brake kit

For sure if you can retain their box fresh feel they will be fine. Seemed to hardly wear, were silent and virtually dust free so better then oem for the road.

    Oil coolers / baffled sumps

@DeaconCheers for the info. Yer if something is smashing the crash beam I don't care too much if the cooler disappears as you say.... Are there any pictures of yours and the mounting in your build thread? Work PC doesn't show pictures but I can check on my phone later tonight. What are raiser blocks? Looks like the TD kit doesn't come with any brackets etc only bolts for mounting to the plastic tray. I am sure this is something that I could source separately though as I assume all oil coolers would attach the same regardless of brand.

    Reyland brake kit

Initially they felt the same as stock which was nice. But after a few heat cycles on track they seemed to loose all of their bite and become very wooden, tried to de glaze them but the feel never came back so binned them for something else. I put them on with new disks too so they shouldn't have had a problem.

    Reyland brake kit

Cant comment on them in the AP kit but I hated mine on stock brakes. Went in the bin after less then 1000 miles

Carbontec AX6 was what he was recommending. I might stick to my guns and go with PFC 08 as there are many happy people using them
